Formula Used

Standard carrying capacity:
Carrying Capacity = Strength × 15 × Size Multiplier × Feature Multiplier × Custom Multiplier + Flat Bonuses

The Tiny size multiplier is 0.5. Small and Medium use 1. Large, Huge, and Gargantuan use 2, 4, and 8.

Push, drag, or lift usually equals twice capacity. Variant encumbrance uses Strength times five and ten. Custom rules can replace those multipliers directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does character body weight count?

No. Body weight is displayed separately unless your campaign adds it manually.

How much do coins weigh?

Standard coins are calculated at fifty coins for each pound.

Does equipped armor count?

Yes. Equipped and carried inventory both contribute to carried weight.

How does Powerful Build work?

This calculator doubles the effective carrying multiplier when that option is enabled.

Can I use house rules?

Yes. Choose custom rules and enter your preferred multipliers and bonuses.

How are extradimensional containers handled?

The container’s own weight counts, while stored contents contribute zero effective carried weight.

Why is nested storage flagged?

Extradimensional containers inside similar spaces can create dangerous campaign-specific interactions.

Can mounts pull vehicles?

Yes. Vehicle mode combines mount capacity, animal count, and the selected pull multiplier.

How does party distribution work?

Loot is assigned first to characters using the lowest percentage of capacity.

Can I save my inventory?

Yes. The local save option stores current calculator data in your browser.

Is this an official rules tool?

No. It is an independent aid, and the Dungeon Master decides final rulings.
